Question by Dre B: How do I determine if my home theater main unit has enough power for 6 more speakers?
My new (to me) home is pre-wired. I have a Phillips Home Theater system that has FTC output power of 510W and Home Theater mode of 1000W. This unit has 5 speakers and a subwoofer for it. I want to use the output for the center speaker for 6 in wall 10″ speakers. I need to determine if I have enough power from that one output.

Answer by Cody in my experience…this is an uphill battle for you. especially if your in wall speakers are 10″ drivers. big drivers usually accept larger amounts of power…purhaps you will be chaining the wires of theses speakers in a big loop?? thats something i truly know nothing about …but driving 6 speakers as if it is one large centre channel seems very much like it will be under powered with your home theatre system. if i were you i would really think like a detective and make a few quick calls to any guitar stores or home theatre professionals in your area that sell amps and recording studio gear and as well try and track down an electronic repair guy that said guitar shop is in touch with and see what they think.
